Let’s keep the pressure on!

On Feb. 9, over a thousand SDEA members and supporters rallied in the rain to demand that the San Diego Unified Board of Education accept our fair contract offer. The media was out in force, and we received some solid press from the event. Better yet, members of the School Board SAW and HEARD our resolve!

But we haven’t won the battle yet. We need to continue to demonstrate our support for our union’s bargaining proposals. We have committed to doing our share by offering furlough days to ensure that class sizes are kept low, that layoffs don’t happen, and that nursing and counseling services are guaranteed for kids. Now it’s time for the members of the Board of Education to step to the plate and do their share.

Organize a group of your colleagues, family, and friends to support our struggle to keep teaching and learning strong in San Diego. Join us at the next School Board meeting on Feb. 23 for a candlelight vigil and let’s light up Park Avenue with our collective spirit!
