The SDEA staff structure for the 2010-2011 school year will consist of five Field Organizers and two Contract Specialists.
Field Organizers
Field Organizers are responsible for working with ARs in clusters throughout the District to conduct trainings and organize sites, assist ARs with Step One and Two grievances, and pursue grievances that rise to Step Three and beyond.
The Field Organizers are assigned to the following specific clusters:
•Erin Clark is the staff contact for ARs for the Serra Cluster, the San Diego Cluster, and the OCILE, TRACE and Graduation Coach programs.
•Jonathon Mello is the staff contact for ARs for the Lincoln Cluster, the Point Loma Cluster, Central Office programs and Counselors.
•Donald Moore is the staff contact for ARs for the La Jolla/UC Cluster, the Madison Cluster, the Mira Mesa Cluster, the Mission Bay Cluster, the Scripps Ranch Cluster, Speech-Language Pathologists and Nurses.
•Abdul Sayid is the staff contact for ARs for the Clairemont Cluster, the Henry Cluster, the Hoover Cluster and Special Education programs.
•Morgan Thornberry is the staff contact for ARs for the Crawford Cluster, the Morse Cluster, the Kearny Cluster, School Psychologists and Child Development Center programs.
Contacting the SDEA Office — Contract Specialists
In order to meet the challenges of the coming year, it is crucial that issues and questions are handled in a way that builds the power of the union at our sites. The best way to do this is make sure members first communicate these issues to you, the site ARs and CRs. If you need assistance answering a question or researching a contract violation, please call the SDEA office and ask for one of the two Contract Specialists — Rafal Dobrowolski or Larry Moreno. In the event that the issue is a grievance or an organizing issue, the Contract Specialist will work with the appropriate Field Organizer to support the site representative throughout the grievance process.
The Member Grievance Intake Form (available for download on the AR’s Corner main page) is the basis for investigating issues and is used throughout the grievance process and into arbitration. It is also helpful to use as a tool to help members clarify the issues and questions they have for site ARs.
