Policies
By
Steve Kaplan, UniServe Field Organizer
There are
a number of new provisions in the Leave Article, Article 10, of
the new negotiated agreement.
Section
10.2 - Attendance Incentive Beginning the second year of the
agreement, The incentive pay for unused sick leave will increase
from $20 per day to $25 dollars per day. The perfect attendance
bonus will increase from $150 to $200. This means the maximum
amount available to a ten month employee goes from $350 to $450.
Section
10.4 - Personal Necessity Leave Each year up to eight days
of sick leave may be used for personal necessity. The new agreement
adds an additional category, Personal/Family Responsibility (10.4.9).
This category may be used "to attend to a compelling personal/family
responsibility which requires the immediate presence of the unit
member during the workday." An example would be attending the
graduation of a family member.
Section
10.23 - Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank This provision takes
affect on July 1, 2000. Unit member will be able to deposit one
day of sick leave in the "Bank" and will then be able to make
withdrawals of sick leave days upon use of all their sick leave
including differential pay. In order to make a donation you must
have at least twenty days of accrued sick leave. The maximum withdrawal
will be twenty days with two separate withdrawals possible. Note:
the sick leave day donated to the "Bank" will not impact the attendance
incentive.
