Governance
Teams
By
Steve Kaplan, UniServe Field Organizer
From time-to-time
administrators announce that governance teams are purely advisory
or our unit members decide governance teams have no power. A
quick look at your Contract will demonstrate many areas where
your governance team has clearly delineated power. Below are
a number of references by contract section, subject and page number.
Get out your contract or go to our website www.sdea.com
and look them up.

The
Memorandum of Understanding establishing the Peer Coach/Staff Developer
position gives the Governance Team control of selection and annual review
and retention responsibilities.
There
is also a Board of Education Policy adopted in 1998. The policy mandates
Governance Teams and places staffing, assignments and budget within
their scope.
