unit members are able to increase their salary by moving across
the salary schedule (column advancement). Such movement is based
on units earned and degrees held. Column advancement for the 2002-2003
school year requires that units be completed or degrees earned
by a specified time. Such increase can be retroactive based on
the units or degrees being posted on an official transcript by
a specified date. The dates are:
- Units
or degrees posted on an official transcript by Sept. 30, 2002
qualify for column advancement from the first date of contract
service in the school year. For most unit members this means
the column advancement would be effective as of Aug. 27, 2002.
Appendix A - Salary Rules 2.051A
- Units
or degrees posted on an official transcript by Jan. 31, 2003
qualify for column advancement on the first day of February
2003. Appendix A - Salary Rules 2.051B
Transcripts
received by June 30, 2003 with qualifying units or degrees will
entitle the unit member to retroactive compensation, as stated
above, for earned column advancement. Appendix A - Salary Rules
2.052
The
best ways to have the transcripts sent are:
If
sent by mail, have the college or university include Room 1241,
Attention Sheila Genung, in the address or you can have the transcript
provided to you and send it through school mail: Ed Center, Room
1241, Attention Sheila Genung; or bring it to her yourself.
Finally,
if you believe a transcript being sent will qualify you for column
advancement, attach a note stating this is the case.
