Hourly
Service
By
Steve Kaplan, UniServe Field Organizer
Section
7.01 of the Salary Rules establishes three types of hourly service
and sets the pay rate for each. The three types are:
1.
Nonclassroom Assignment (Section 7.011) - This rate is for "a
regular contract unit member who is offered and agrees to serve
in an hourly nonclassroom assignment in addition to the regular
contract assignment." Examples of nonclassroom assignments
include materials development and curriculum writing. The contract
rate is $26.34 per hour.
2.
Workshop Participants (Section 7.012) - This rate is for "a
regular contract unit member who participates voluntarily in a
district-sponsored workshop for which compensation is offered."
Compensation is for time outside of the eight-hour day and/or
forty hour workweek. Workshop rate cannot be used when attendance
is mandatory. The contract rate is $17.56 per hour.
3.
Additional Hourly Classroom Assignment (Section 7.013) - This
rate is for "unit members who are offered and agree to work
an additional classroom hourly assignment in addition to the regular
contract assignment." An example would be a secondary teacher
who teaches an additional class during their prep period. "Additional
hourly classroom assignments may require a waiver. See Section
25.3." The contract rate is the unit members prorata rate
rounded to the nearest quarter hour including any special compensation
or $34.76 per hour whichever is greater.
Participation
is voluntary in all three types of "Hourly Service"
covered in this section.
