Calendar
By

Under
Article 8, Section 8.2, the annual work year calendar is developed
jointly by the District and SDEA. The process includes these steps.
-
A joint calendar committee meets to discuss, develop and recommend
a multi-year master-calendar to include traditional and year-round
calendars. The committee consists of District and Association
representatives plus other stakeholder representatives appointed
by their respective groups. The committee's goal is to present
the calendar to the Board ofEducation for adoption one year
prior to implementation. (Section 8.2.1)
- SDEA
has the ability to disagree with the calendar recommendations.
If this occurs, the District "agrees to negotiate the Master
Calendar prior to its adoption by the Board." Negotiations
occur through the Contract
Administration Committee. (Section 8.2.2)
Individual
calendars are developed by unit members "who, by virtue of
their assignment, are required to work an individualized calendar..."
This individualized calendar is developed by the unit member "subject
to approval by the immediate supervisor..." Individualized
calendars
are to have the appropriate number of working days, and not conflict
with District or site scheduled activities or staffing needs.
The
calendars are to conform to appropriate District holidays. (Section
8.2.3)
