The state budget proposed by Governor Schwarzenegger contains funding cuts to public education of historic proportions and suspends the minimum funding guaranteed to education by Proposition 98.
Thus, the largest public school system in the nation is now facing the largest round of school cuts ever proposed in California- a staggering $4.8 billion over the next 18 months. These cuts will derail our progress in student achievement and threaten the education of all of our students.
Our students didn’t cause this budget crisis and they shouldn’t have to pay for it.
