Gray Whale Season Nearing End
at Birch Aquarium at Scripps
Scripps Institution of Oceanography/UC San Diego
Now through March 31, 2008
San Diegans have only a few weeks left to witness the annual gray whale migration past San Diego’s coastline. The whales are beginning to head home to their Bering Sea feeding grounds after vacationing for a few weeks in Baja California lagoons, where they breed and give birth.
Celebrate the final stretch of the journey with Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. Enjoy daily local whale watching cruises featuring Scripps naturalists, whale watching expeditions to Baja and a new traveling exhibit on whale sounds!
Be part of the longest mammal migration in the world, when approximately 20,000 gray whales pass San Diego on their annual, 10,000-mile round-trip journey. Come join the adventure!

An encore performance! The internationally acclaimed San Diego Symphony Orchestra returns to Poway to present a highly entertaining and enlightening pops program that puts a premium on audience accessibility and family fun. In 2006 a truncated version of the Symphony, lead by the charismatic conductor Matthew Garbutt, played to an appreciative Poway audience. In fact, audiences were so taken by Garbutt they dubbed him the ‘Fred Astaire of the podium' – and demanded a repeat performance!
Now the San Diego Symphony Orchestra returns at full strength with a unique program designed especially for the "City in the Country" -- a celebration of our equestrian heritage and wild west roots!
PROGRAM: A Salute to the Wild West!
