Permanent RIF Hearing, ALJ's Recommendations May 7 SDEA received the decision of the Administrative Law Judge. Major findings include:
The judge upheld the legal basis that the district used to compile the list of educators to be laid off.
The judge said the district, even though it made mistakes, created the list in a timely way.
The judge gave authority to the district to finalize their decision.
While we are disappointed in the decision, we remain determined to stop all the layoffs. Keep in mind that the judge ruled on the process, while commenting on the injustice of the layoffs and chronic underfunding of education. SDEA wants to make clear to all our members that the fight continues as long as it takes. More |
