Zamorano Teachers Flex Their Muscles
In response response to the increased workload due to District testing and the District’s reluctance to meet our contract demands regarding workload, Zamorano teachers recently engaged in a solidarity action highlighting the overwhelming amount of work that teachers do on a daily basis. At the end of the school day, Zamorano teachers skipped their regular routine of staying far later than required to put in additional unpaid hours for the good of their students. Instead, Zamorano’s educators promptly turned off the lights, shut their doors, walked out en masse to the parking lot and drove home. This simple but effective collective action sent a clear message to the District: SDEA educators are organized and united, and we are prepared to support one another when our work is not respected!

In a recent solidarity action, Zamorano teachers en masse left promptly at the end of the workday, emphasizing the amount of unpaid extra work teachers regularly perform.

The Zamorano after-work walk out was a marked success, building solidarity and relationships at the site.
